Another rainy morning and a breakfast treat. We called this pain doré - French toast or if you live in the north of England eggy bread. The ingredients are in the photos - we always had a few drops of vanilla extract which turns a few slices of ordinary even stale bread into brioche. We had eaten raspberries and fat blackberries with crème fraîche last night so I had to raid the freezer and thaw the berries over the blackberry coulis I am making for tomorrow's pudding. Yes it's a special occasion  - Kate and Dan are back.
