Random, round up sort of post this evening. The weekend has been sunny and warm. The BBQ with the fam was lovely especially as Dan did the honours and cooked all the meat to perfection:)
Earlier on Saturday, David and I went to Burford Garden Company to look for outdoor party lights which they didn't have but I could not resist a few more wild flower plugs and a peek at the shepherd's hut. And the lavender varieties there are amazing; a pale blue one and some striking French lavender, both irresistible. The door arch is a good idea which we may copy over the stable door at the side of the house. The space there is being cleared atm and looks grim but it will be lovely.
After the feast yesterday we had a simple supper tonight: roasted vegetable frittata. It is very easy to make in the oven so a good Aga / Everhot dish. I used mange tout, asparagus, broccoli, cherry toms, some spring onions and a couple of pieces of garlic dressed with oil and roasted for 15 minutes at about 200C. Then the batter is poured in and the dish goes back in the oven for about 30 minutes and that's it. You can make the batter whilst the roasting is happening. Here is the recipe:
100 g plain flour
250 ml milk
2 large eggs
chopped herbs if you have some
I am very much looking forward to Patrick coming home on Tuesday. He has now finished at Leeds uni and is coming home for summer fun.
